Up first is Jamie, the hard-working owner of Meraki, you will find her busy working in the salon, giving her clients stunning transformations and making everyone feel welcome.

Jamie Bailey – Director & Senior Colourist

Tell us a bit about your work history…

I’ve been qualified for 13 years. My first job in a salon was at Cease on Queens Road. I progressed over almost 10 years there and after becoming best of friends with the owner Jay, I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to buy the salon. I fully refurbished it, making my own mark on it, we have now established ourselves as a colour salon.

What is your favourite thing about working at Meraki?

My favourite thing about working at Meraki is every person that walks through the door has a different head of hair and is a new challenge. Changing the way someone looks changes the way they feel and giving another person confidence is the best feeling in the world!

An average day at Meraki is…

Non-stop and packed full of creative, freehand work, and I wouldn’t change it.

What do I enjoy doing?

Honestly? Netflix and chill with a few gins chucked in for good measure

What is your favourite hair product?

My favourite hair product is Olaplex. Every good hairdresser knows how much of a game-changer it is. I can push the bleaching limits and keep the integrity of the hair, it’s insane on all hair types. It’s my most recommend day product.

What is your favourite food?

Peanut butter. On everything!

What is your favourite film?

Pretty woman, I’m a sucker for romance!

What are you listening to at the moment?

Mahalia. She’s new on the scene and also from Leicester, she’s so relatable

What are you looking forward to most this year?

The beauty industry awards, we are nominated for salon of the year!
